Printing with Carbon Fibre Filaments

Carbon fibre filaments are abrasive and can cause rapid wear on standard brass nozzles. A hardened steel or other wear-resistant nozzle is recommended. Depending on the fibre content and particle size, a larger nozzle diameter may also help prevent clogging.

Printing requirements vary significantly depending on the base polymer. PLA-CF is generally easier to print, while PA12-CF requires higher temperatures and careful moisture management.

It's also important to understand that carbon fibre reinforcement does not automatically make a printed part stronger in every respect. While CF additives typically improve stiffness, they may reduce impact resistance or layer adhesion in some formulations.
